Washington University School of Medicine maintains confidential records for a variety of business needs. Records include detailed information about patients receiving treatment, job applicants, employees, finances and future planning. Employees are expected to protect this information by safeguarding it when in use, filing it properly when not in use,
discussing it only with those who have a legitimate business need to know and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations through appropriate training. Violations of this policy will lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
