Slide 34
This slide shows a phenomenon of platelet satellitism. The platelets are attracted by and orbit the neutrophils. This is a rare finding and is seen only in blood anticoagulated with EDTA. It is not seen in citrated, heparinized, or finger-stick blood. It is significant because it may cause a spuriously low platelet and white cell count.
